In Turkestan, as part of the «Open Library in the Open Akimat» project, a mobile book point starts receiving readers from September 13, 2023. The opening of the library was attended by the Deputy Akim of Turkestan Region, Beisenbay Tazhibaev, as well as government officials and librarians. The mobile book point consists of two sections. The first section is called the «Open Fund». In the adjacent «Main Fund» room, conditions for reading are provided. On the bookshelf inside the «Open Akimat» office, there are currently about 3600 books. These include books on various topics, such as motivation, fiction, psychology, history, religious studies, and periodicals. In an item made by local craftsman Zhanbolat Suimbaev from goat skin, Abai’s «Words» are written. In an item made by local craftsman Zhanbolat Suimbaev from goat skin, Abai’s «Words» are written. Additionally, library staff have provided a copy of «Diwani Hikmet» on parchment paper. You can also see a model of the ancient Kultegin inscription here. Furthermore, there is an option to deliver necessary books from the regional library on a short-term basis according to readers’ requests. Since the beginning of the year, around 40,000 books have been acquired for the 396 libraries in the region, and 16 districts have open libraries within the framework of the «Open Akimat». Plans are in place for further replenishment of the library with necessary books. The goal of this project is to serve as a bridge between the government and the people through spirituality, to cultivate a reading culture among the population, and to increase access to library books for government employees.
