In Turkestan region, a project to open libraries in markets with high foot traffic has been implemented. As part of this project, on January 11, a branch of the «Farab» library was opened at the «Kuanish» shopping center in Turkestan city. – The idea of the «Library in the Market» emerged to create an educational and cultural platform in crowded places, and it is being realized today. This project has been supported by the regional governor Darhan Satybaldy, who has tasked organizing systematic measures to develop public culture. As you know, the majority of residents in the region run their businesses through trading points. Markets are also a frequent destination for ordinary people. Therefore, we initiated this new project to support entrepreneurs in reading and to expand the cultural environment. The largest shopping center in the city, «Kuanish», employs over 1700 entrepreneurs. On average, more than 20,000 people visit it daily. The newly opened library is expected to serve up to 70 people per day and about 1500 people per month. We will continue this project in central markets of districts and cities. The revival of new projects that encourage reading has a direct impact on the increase in the number of readers. I would like to thank the market owners who supported our initiative. I hope that the library opened today will serve the benefit of readers, – said Deputy Governor Baisen Dauletuly. The library houses about 3000 books, including various genres of literature and business-oriented as well as inspirational global bestsellers. These works will help entrepreneurs in developing their business, personal growth, and generating new creative ideas. The bookshelves will be regularly updated according to public demand. Special racks or shelves will also be set up where citizens can donate books they have read or exchange them for other books. In accordance with the instructions of the Akimat, the library provides access to knowledge, exchange of cultural values, offers periodicals, fiction and children’s books. It will create a comfortable environment for reading, establish close interaction with readers and will help visitors spend their time effectively.
